Thanksgiving and such

So I told you about my beautiful Turkey. I thought I would show you some pics of Thanksgiving and the cutest baby :)

Th is the turkey in the brine. Don't be disgusted that it looks like pee (that is what Jeff said). It is that color from vege broth. So it sat in that over night.

Then is slathered the turkey with a whole cube of butter. Butter makes everything better. At least that is what Paula Deen thinks. http://www.hulu.com/watch/193083/saturday-night-live-paula-deens-paper-towels I also put some herbs and onions, carrots and celery inside the turkey instead of stuffing. That skit is so funny.

Now here is the end result. It is perfectly browned. It was so moist. I think that recipe is fail proof if you follow the instructions. If you ever want to do a turkey you should do it like this. Soooo good. Here are some pics from Thanksgiving day.

Her first Thanksgiving. Looking so dang cute. She is rockin the converse booties that my sister Amber gave her. They are so great.

She got blessed on Sunday. Here is the dress that she wore. Jeff's mom bought it for her. It is really cute but kind of slippery to hold her in :)
Happy little family. Jeff was so nervous to give her the blessing but it was a really good one. She was good all through it even though she was awake. She didn't make a peep. So those are the events of the week. It was really fun to have Jeff's family here for the holiday. It was sad that my mom couldn't make it for the blessing but I am assuming there will be others. I can't wait for yours :)

The cutest baby on the planet

I am sorry but it is true. I know that your baby will be cute but Jane has already won the prize. I am really sorry but your baby can be second in line :)

Grapefruit

It is that time of year again. The time I love. Grapefruit time. Well I guess I also really love Watermelon time but now that time is over. When I am eating a grapefruit I can't help but think of living in Las Vegas. We would buy those big boxes of grapefruit from Trader Joe's and go through the whole box in a week or two. I also think about how you taught me to eat a grapefruit by peeling it instead of cutting it. Wow that was revolutionary. Oh the memories. I just wanted to share them with you. Have a great day.

One Month

So my little one is now a month. Can you believe that? Time is going by so fast. We had our first trip to church the other day. It went well. She just slept the whole time. Here she is

My mom made that hat for her while she was here. Jane has been wearing it a lot lately. You want to know why? Not because it is getting colder, although it is. It is to cover up her sad little head.

Jeff keeps saying that I think that she isn't as cute anymore because of her male pattern baldness. I do think she is as cute as ever but I feel sad and don't want other people to not think she is cute. I am so vain but whatever. I think that I will post my birth story in the next little bit. Maybe people or you don't care but I think it might be good to write it out. Ya know? So are you taking charge of your fertility yet? I sure hope so. You need to get one of these little ones. They are seriously the best. It is amazing to be a mom. I never thought I would love it so much but I really do. It is such a crazy feeling to have this little thing that you just love so much and are responsible for at the same time. It can be scary, especially for me who doesn't like to have emotions :) I have never been much of a worrier but found that it comes with the territory. Hope you are doing well. Come and visit me soon. Oh wait I am coming there next week. We need to hang out.

Eating

You have known me long enough to know how much I love food. Even though some people think that I have a weird diet or don't eat so many things. It is just not true. I do love to eat so much. I have to say though, that I am officially sick of eating. Ok maybe it is not necessarily the eating as much of thinking of what to eat and preparing it. Food used to be so much fun but now it is so much of a chore. I still feel hungry all the time and they say it only gets worse when you are nursing. I really never thought that I would say this about food. It is like food and I are in a fight and there is no way that I can win. The other morning I woke up at 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep because I was so hungry. You know that I am not complaining about being pregnant but I never thought that this would be one of the 'side effects' of being pregnant. I wish that you didn't have a job so that you could come and stay with me and make me all of my food for the next little while. I know that I will be back to my old self soon enough but for right now it is such an annoyance.

This weekend kind of made the eating situation worse. So just over a week ago, Jeff had what we are assuming was a gall bladder attack. I am not sure if he has stone or what. He ate at this really fatty/down home cookin place and that night he was in severe pain. So he decided that he was going to do a cleanse. He over heard Rachel talking about it once and so we got all we needed for it. Well it involved him only drinking this lemon juice stuff for three days and taking some herbs. So while I am having to eat every 2 hours, Jeff can only drink the lemon juice. I can't imagine how hard that would have been for him. He was a champion about it though and didn't really complain. Well until last night when he had to end the whole thing by drink a cup of olive oil. Yes one cup. So gross. He drank it though and says he feels better today. Hopefully it is all gone.

Well I suppose that is all for now. I am just waiting and waiting some more. My date is not till Sunday but Rachel is getting here on Friday. I keep telling myself that I can go any time after that but before she leaves a week later. We will see. I am excited to have her come out and see what she looks like and such. It is kind of sad that my life is so uneventful right now that I can write a whole blog about eating :)

Concert

The concert was pretty fun. I did feel really old and you did get a lot of funny looks, being uber pregnant and all, but I'm glad we went. Thanks for coming to visit!

Rich and I went to the Sharon Jones concert on Thursday and that was a lot of fun too. I was so mad though because last Thursday The New Pornographers were there. WHAT?!? How did I not know about that? I don't want to talk about it.

It is on a school night and you might not want to be out late. House and Music

So here are some pics. There are not too many because you have to come and visit me to see the rest. I put the kitchen because I painted that wall red and you know how I love red. I did just paint another room but again I don't want to give away the surprise.

COOKIES!

Kim, so sorry it's taken me this long to give you the Oreo cookie recipe. So here you go...


(This picture is from some girl's blog because I haven't even taken a picture of mine... I think these look pretty close to how mine look, but you should take a picture and post it to compare.)

Oreo cookies: (recipe originally given to me by Robyn Bragger, who is coming to my house tonight for dinner!)
2 devils cake mixes
3/4 cups shortening
4 eggs
Mix these all together in a big bowl. I usually have to use my hands to mash it together good enough. I've burnt out pleanty of hand mixers trying to get it mixed. Then roll them into balls and place on a cookie sheet. Push them flat with a fork. Bake at 350 for 8-10 mins.

Frosting:
8 oz cream cheese
1/4 cup butter
1 lb powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
milk if needed
Sandwich these between two cool cookies. Enjoy!!!

p.s. I AM listening to Vampire Weekend as I write this. Oh, how I love them!!!!

The little things

It really is the little things that can make me so happy. Like having blinds up in my bedroom window when we have had towels hanging as blinds since we moved in. This is not a picture of my window but you get the idea.

Mid year resolution

Ok so I decided that I am really going to be more diligent about posting on here. There is no reason not to, right? I mean I don't have a job and nothing to do most days. Burritos

KIM!!!!

I made some black bean and corn burritos last night and it made me think of you. I MISS YOU!! You should go to Utah this weekend. I'm going up there to go skiing with Rich. You should come. Not skiing. That's dangerous. But come up to Utah and play, k?
